Our Story
Our Story — Three Generations, Three Beginnings
Yaowarat, where it all began
At sixteen years old, Mother Ju sold her first bowl of bird's nest from a small cart in Bangkok's Chinatown. No shop, no sign — just a young girl, a cart, and a recipe made with patience and care.
South, then across the sea
Years later she travelled south to Hat Yai and, side by side with her own mother, built a bird's nest house two generations strong. Life then carried her across the world — and when she returned home, she simply began again, building a new name from nothing, greater than what came before. Starting over never frightened her. She had done it at sixteen.
Jumama — the story continues
When Mother Ju passed away, her daughter did what the women of our family have always done: she began again. Jumama · จูมะม้า · 珠媽媽 — literally "Mother Ju" — carries her name, her recipes, and her spirit into a new generation, blending the traditions she guarded with a modern touch she would have loved.
In our family, bird's nest is not something we inherit. It is something we build — bowl by bowl, generation after generation.
Jumama — the first comprehensive bird's nest dessert cafe in Thailand, specialising in bird's nest. Visit us in Yaowarat and Banthat Thong, Bangkok.
